Marlin Brando fans will soon have a new way to wear their enthusiasm on their sleeves, literally. Brando Enterprises, the entity created to manage Mr. Brando's business affairs in perpetuity, has signed a deal with Triumph Motorcycles to market a recreation of the leather jacket worn by his character Johnny Strabler in the movie "The Wild One."
The movie is a classic piece of the 1950s rebel movement. Brando's Johnny rode a Triumph Thunderbird T6 as part of a motorcycle gang, and naturally the leather jacket is part of the imagery associated whole genre.
The reincarnation of Johnny's jacket is accurate down to the "BRMC" gang logo printed in distress on the back, along with "Johnny" embroidered above it. It's not just a fashion piece, either; it features double impact seams, CE-certified shoulder and elbow protection and removable thermal vest.
Additional Brando merchandise will include men's and women's T-shirts, as well as a limited-edition print featuring Brando's iconic pose inspired by the movie. The jacket will be available at Triumph dealers beginning December 1, 2009; just in time for holiday giving. For more information visit Triumph's clothing website.
