I know there are few people out there that are slow like me and dont really know what there doing, so this is just a quick and easy write up on how to remove the tiptronic shift knob.

      1.Put the vehicle in park:

      2. Slide the sleeve downwards

      3. Pull outward on the button (It will shock you when it comes out and youll think you broke it but its ok)

      4. Pull the shift knob up and off.

Bask in your glory of knowing how to do simple things

To put it back on its just doing the steps backwards.

Gracias! Why have you removed the console, etc? Asking 'cause the gate cover on mine cracked off awhile ago and wanted to replace.

Update, I put a leather glove on and it popped right off.. But only the little crome piece came out, then compleatly off, nothing else.. I think i might had screwed myself..

Played with it a little more, even got some plyers and tried to pull it off- nothing.. I dont think this is how a Wolfsburgs Tiptronic shift knob is removed.. or im just not doing simple instructions correctly

Great tutorial but how do I remove the rest of it? I want to remove the chrome trim with the PRND432 lights. I've seen your other tutorial and I know U did remove it.

Sorry for the late response. Hopefully you figured it out by now, but if not I believe it just snapped into place so it should just pop right up. I no longer have the car so I cant exactly go out and look but Im almost positive thats how I got it up.

I have a 2009 VW Beetle and I accidentally broke the fiber-optic (Plastic) gear shift slide plate inside the gear cover and I do not know how to disassemble this part.

Can someone explain to me how to remove and replace the gear shift cover?
