New Volkswagen SUV Roccan coming 2014

VW Roccan

VW will have an all new SUV just between the Touareg and Tiguan. Details are slim, but the Roccan was foreshadowed by the recent concept Cross Coupe. Set to launch in early 2014, Volkswagen hopes this model will fill the gap who find the Touareg to big and the Tiguan too small. It is built on the new MQB platform and will be available Europe, America, and China.

I hope so. I can't really justify the Toureg3 TDI over a Q7 TDI. It would be silly for VW to not have a 3 row SUV.

I just did, and saved $20K.....besides, I only needed to seat 5. in fact, we chose the Touareg 3 over the Q5 as the Q5 can't seat 5 people as comfortably as the Touareg 3.

And why ? It's a hot segment, and the Tiguan is completely uncompetitive. They need a standard family crossover for the US and Chinese markets.

If it's smaller than our CX-9 (like the Rav4 and Sorento are), but costs roughly the same, I can't say it'll interest me. The CX-9's third row is already cramped... if this is smaller, meh.

This is presumably transverse-engined, Passat-related, and in the $25k-35k range.

The smart money is on those who create products that people want. It has taken quite some time, but Volkswagen of America seems to get this now.

The was because I thought there was no need for an SUV that is sized between the Toureg and the Tiguan. Realizing that there is a sizeable gap I may not be do dissappointed.

How did you manage to save $20k? Seems far fetched since the T3 TDI starts at $46k while the Q7 is at $51.5k

Edit- Good choice on the T3 over the Q5. Definitely a no brainer to me.

The Tiguan, a small seller in SUV terms, still outsells the Golf in the US.
