I went to the dealership Friday, for an oil change, and picked up the 2015 calendars they had there. The cover shows a Scirocco. I thought that was pretty mean. The tease turned into a taunt haha.
Nice calendars tho, got the fridge one, the small format desk calendar and the regular full size.

Why do you need to replace the tires too? Why not use the summers the car comes with?

Exactly my thoughts...makes me even more irritated when I see one of those plates -- obviously laws don't apply to these people.

@vipermoon64 I'm guessing our roads up here aren't any worse than Michigan roads. That being said, I would probably opt for 18s if the 19s were an option only.

Because I don't want 19" tires. 18" are bad enough as it is!

Lol I'm willing to claim that there's nothing worse than Michigan roads.
In my opinion unless otherwise stated.

Of course not. They pay a lot more for their cars (and food and gas and literally everything else).

For example, their normal Golf can be equipped with an auto dimming rearview mirror, automatic high beams, and real leather. We don't have any of that on our Golf.
In my opinion unless otherwise stated.

I refuse to leave the dealer with 19" wheels on the car.

Quebec folks, I invite you to come visit Edmonton...
I moved from Montreal here expecting better pavement and quicker snow removal...epic fail on both aspects....

Anywhere with winter has ****ty roads. Although I will say that Edmonton, Detroit and Montreal are probably in my top (bottom) three.

Well...took an S3 out for a test drive today. Whoa....the Golf R will be a blast! Still irritated that it won't be here in time for my current lease to expire....wouldn't mind saving some cash for essentially the same engine (plus, prefer the hatchback!).

The wait for this car is going to kill me. I do agree tho, the roads here in Edmonton are pretty bad during winter.

The Golf R will also be available with a Technology Package that adds several Advanced Driving Assistance features to the mix along with the eagerly awaited Discover Pro navigation system. F
From the internal communication, they are hints towards any of the "Advanced Driving Assistance" packages offered in Europe. Not sure if VW offers the same items in NA such as City Emergency Brake Protection.

Volkswagen has released pricing information for its driver assistance pack on the new Golf. The pack will be offered as an option in the Comfortline and Highline equipment lines and will include:

      - ACC adaptive cruise control
      - “Front Assist” surroundings monitoring system with City Emergency Braking function
      - Bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights and cornering lights
      - “Dynamic Light Assist” dynamic main beam control
      - Light and sight pack
      - “Lane Assist” lane-keeping assistant
      - Anti-theft warning system “Plus”
      - Traffic sign detection

      No need all that, but...
Dynamic Light Assist - is it any different from the AFS GTI has? Would be super-dope to see something similar to the big Three's adaptive lights
      from 0.30
AAC is kinda cool too...but how they are going to price all that?
S3 starts at $44k - fully optioned .:R should not overlap by much, so Full-spec DSG .:R should be around $45k...Manual - $43.500 - or so I wish

I doubt it. Our works pretty well as it is, it senses the cars from about 500m and shuts off the high beam while retaining the low beam. Kind of annoying at first in the mountains because I didn't have trust in it (a few times it didn't go off!). Around here people die if they get high beam'd in their face cole range at night, not cool.. I do let it do its own thing now and have yet to run into any other trouble so far after almost 6 months/20k.

That's just an exchange rate conversion. Throw in the fact that almost all vehicles in Canada are even higher than just the conversion and this could be a pricey car by the time it gets to Canada in late 2015. Maybe 46K-47K, who knows?
Now our dollar exchange is down to 1.18. Could be a scary MSRP when we finally do get it.

No news to report at this time. I will be surprised if we receive a thing official prior to Thursday, February 12, the date of the media day at the Toronto Auto Show. As always, if I hear anything, you'll hear about it ASAP right here.

      Thanks for the updates

I know in the states a lot of VW dealerships are mod friendly I wonder if we have anything like that in the GTA?

It seems that "mod-friendly" has been somewhat trumped by vwag ecu flags. if you roll the dice - you have to be ready to accept a possible poor outcome.

I'm going to the press day on the 13th. I'll try to snap as many pics as possible.

I would classify ourselves as "mod friendly".
