I'm still running the stock rear sway. That may change as I get more comfortable with the car and do some fine tuning.

Post of picture of your of car.
I should have some action shots for the car's first event on May 7th. There should be lots of over driving and understeer as I grind the stock tires into oblivion. I can't wait.

I'll probably drive it stock just for fun at it's first event, but I'll be getting some 17 inch wheels and good tires soon enough. I've been driving on RE71rs for the last few seasons and they're amazing. However, I've heard good things about the new Rivals and there's also the new Hankook RS-4s. Has anyone tried those?

There still seems to be some debate on sway bar choices. Strano, H&R, etc. The bars don't seem that drastically different, so I'd imagine a lot of it comes down to driver preference.

The GTI seems to be an increasingly popular autocross car, at least in the Atlanta Region. We had six at our last scca event. Hopefully, we'll see more next month.

Strano and H&R are pretty different, going from 22mm solid to 26mm solid. Strano bar probably is a better match to mostly stock car, I like the car with Koni with the H&R though.

I hope more of these show up to events. GS seems to be pretty under subscribed nationally ATM.

I'm a little scared off by the konis since they aren't adjustable in the rear unless removed from the car. I'll probably stick with the stock shocks for the rest of this season. Based on how they perform, I might try a non adjustable Bilstien or Koni. Given my mediocre talent, I'm probably better off spending money on seat time.

Thanks for the information on the sway bar. They're nowhere near as expensive as the gendron on my old S2000, so it wouldn't be too much trouble to try both.

I autocross last year with the stock shock, for this year I went the easy way and put a set of Bilstein, no adjustments to mess with.
They have better control of body movement over the stock shock, I don’t know how they compare to the Koni.
The only national events I might do is the Tour and Match Tour in Bristol in July.

I was planning to go to Bristol since I have to take that week off for work. But instead now I am going to my cousin's wedding in Hawaii....

I did a couple not so serious autocrosses on the stock all-seasons a few weeks ago where I instructed, etc. Here's my first event on the right tire this season:

Drove a little bit rustily IMO, but good enough to place 3rd/175 on PAX at Chicago region SCCA.

Should I be worried about rubbing if I get a set of VWR or similar springs and am running 35 offset wheels with 235 tires?

My wheels are at least out as far as my wheel arches, and the tires are a millimeter or two wider than that.

From what you've described, it will rub. You'll need to roll your fenders

Yes, changing springs isn't allowed in base street classes.

From one Atlanta dad to another, you should come out to the autoxatlanta event this Sunday.
Check out www.autoxatlanta.com for details. Good site, even if it's a bit of a drive.

Compete noob, stock suspension, stock a/s tires, and 100% chance of rain. What could go wrong? Lol. Seriously though...thanks for the invite, man. I'll think about it.

Yeah, saw that last night when I decided "wth, I'll do it!" They seem to be very noob friendly. Not sure about the scca events. Any feedback there?

Both are great groups with great people. Most folks run with both groups, time permitting.
We'll make sure you have a novice instructor and a novice course walk. There will also be plenty of folks around to answer classing questions.
Lanier raceplex is an interesting site. The courses are short, but the banking makes things interesting.

Had a blast at Dragway 42 with Akron Sports Car Club. I was placed in STX/R. Other than two of their members/staff being total *******s for no reason other than to be *******s I had a blast and plan to go back. Times aren't really relevant as every course is different, and I forgot to turn on my video camera lol. I feel like my front sway bay may need to be adjusted. In the longer slaloms I could feel it wanting to understeer. Other than that and the stock pads coating the car in brake dust I am very very pleased with the car and have no complaints lol. Time for PP brakes, StopTech rotors and EBC pads! Running on 225/40R18s instead of the stock 195/65R15 made a huge difference!

There was also an R there, really cool guy. 6 speed car.

Unfortunately I am missing Peru. I am working as a design judge at a FSAE competition in Canada that weekend.
