I've concluded some elements on the LG V20, and will address hiss gate on iphone7/+ that no one seems to be analyzing, and to what is causing it.

First the Iphone7 because it is a thread on the missing 3.5mm jack-- and that is what's causing it! The fact that it is no longer using an analog controller for sound control/processing is the reason for the more than average s/n ratio when the volume is lowered. Think about it: with an analog control it levels evenly. Not the case with digital processing.

Now for the LG V20-- it is indeed including the B&O H3 headphones for US consumers But that's all I've got on the phone as of yet

Cache clear seems to help a little. Still has some serious lag at times. Big name apps just freeze (facebook, native messenger app) and require me to clear app from list.

MotoZ was first to not have a heaqdphone jack, but as with most apple stuff, they like to pretend they are innovators.

I will not be getting a phone without headphone jack until BT headphones are as cheap as wired ones are. I love my BT headphones, but when they are not on my head, they are plugged into the wall. So they are not able to just be stored in my travel backpack. So, I have been on a few trips without them and fallen back on my $5 wired earbud pair, I always have in my bag. I mean, iphone and Moto z both come with the adapter, so as long as you dont lose that I guess.

You'll have a lot of time to enjoy it considering your 6P updates will be far and less frequent, if any at all. Pretty much got left in the dirt with the release of the new pixel phones and Google ditching the Nexus lineup.

If you really do love your phone and would like to keep it- read thorough review and comments on apps that fix these issues. I've known people who dl apps from the play store and problem solved.

But before you do that, you should just ditch Nova launcher for one of the newer cynagen mod previews for that phone. There's obes that make it like a note 7 too. At this point you have nothing to lose and who knows, maybe a whole new launcher might solve the whole deal you going there. Like I said, that processor and 3 gigs should have no lag issues. Try not spending too much time on porno over the phone

      hey, I love my redtube.

I am doing a backup of all apps and contacts and everything else i can. I am not rooted though, so I am not sure if I will be able to fine a non root app data backup. Seems all the programs require rooting.

I have tried some googling to find lag fixes, but none have seemed to be the right google terminology yet.

Looks like there is no CM for Note3 on ATT which is shocking.

Actually att is notorious for that. It doesn't make sense to restrict such options; after all, we're buying the damn phone. I'll look into it.

Is your phone unlocked? Get the lock code from them. We'll go from there.

Off-the-bat I can tell you that at&t will email or text you the unlock code without any issues. If you've had it for over two months, they allow it for no charge. It takes about a day or two to receive it after you've made the call.

Once you've unlocked it, then you can go ahead and root it. Sakitech and Max Lee are two ytubers I trust with android devices.

There area few mods you can choose from- I'd say you give the s7edge or note7 formats a try. Report back..

Yeah, I was looking at CM as that is the only one I had heard of. They did not seem to have a way to load custom ROM onto ATT. I will email and get an unlock code and root. Then see if I can get a ROM without screwing everything up.

Not sure if you frequent the xda forums, but read through some of these threads so you get it right the first time

I no longer have my Note 3, but unless something has changed you can only run a custom ROM if you use Safestrap (get it at XDA) . Essentially you leave the stock ROM alone due to the locked bootloader and run Safestrap to allow you to run custom ROM's. Your stock ROM just stays there taking up space. Pissed me off no end when I had my Note 3, as Timmay wrote above you paid for the phone, should be able to do whatever the heck you want with it.

I have an S7 Edge now and it is the same crap, locked bootloader. The next phone I get is likely to just be whatever Google are selling at the time. Screw ATT.

Any idea if other att devices are the same? Looking at lgv20.

      Or may just get nexus.

Been reading some root posts but all the jargon is lost on me.

That's what ill be ending up with. I'm a little upset about the $800 price tag due to a few sacrifices, namely waterproofing and the sheer size of the thing.

Other phones to watch for- note 5, s7edge, zte axon7, 1+3, Sony z5, and if you can hold out, Samsung S8.. I would like to wait for that but my phone is dumb stupid. Starts scrolling mid sentence and all over the place. I really wish I could just have the s7e with palm rejection. But it's not solid. And using a case with that phone kind of defeats the purpose of its design.

Give a serious thought to the V20 though. It's a beast.

^^^ Cant hear at work, but what does $1500 headphones have to do with LGv20?

So Sony, Samsung, and ZTE are trouble for ROM and Rooting? Or are those good, easy phones for rooting? Not looking at a Note5 though as it is already a year old.

The fact that it has a decent amp/dac that can power high output drivers like that.

The Sony and Zte are factory unlocked. I'm not sure if developers are creating too many roms for them. I've owned a few Sonys and they are very well rounded. Updates in beta form are second best to nexus devices, or shall i say Google now. The zte is a great bang for your money; spec'd just like the s7, htc10, etc.

Scratch that. Turns out even if you do root the at&t variant, the bootloader will not allow all functionalities and may even cause soft-bricks which are reversible.

If you are not into audiophile content consumption forget the v20. Out of all the phones I mentioned, I'd seriously look into the 1+3 and Sony. Both these devices only lack in photography where Low light is a concern. And the screens are 1080p. Which is not bad unless you are using some type if vr enhancement where pixilation does become a factor.

And in LG V20 news- Only preordered Units will have the B&O headphones included with t-mobile. At&t variant will supply them with a trade-in phone.

Everyone appreciates and deserves better-than-average pair of earbuds with their $800 phones. ****ing marketing fuctards

Even with the loss of the 3.5mm jack, apple managed to sell the most smartphones in their history of selling iPhones with the 7. The abundance of stupudity with this..

Samsung still holds first place regardless of the note7 fails.

Calling people stupid when the contents of the thread above directly contradicts you does not reflect well on your intelligence.

BTW... Now that this has reappeared on my feed. I should chime in with the fact that I also ended up getting a V20. The B&O earbuds are very good. Definitely amongst the best in my collection. I am amazed at how well it drives high impedance headphones. It handles all my uncompressed high bitrate stuff so well that plugging it into my home system has been a revelation. Previously, I didn't think a 3.5 mm could handle the bandwidth to compete with a digital connection. I don't think that anymore.

The 3.5 jack has not been eclipsed by anything.

It's stupid to buy old-tech with apples premium price tag with their iphone. Plain and simple. You don't have to like my outlook-- It will only be a matter of time when Huawei sets up shop in the states and leaves Samsung, Google, LG, and Apple with no choice but to lower their prices. Apple has already started with the 7. I found $700 for the V20 absolutely ridiculous as well.

Apples lightening port still holds some of the cleanest signal processing with mobile phone sound quality ratings. What you're experiencing on your V20 is the high quality amp, not the 3.5mm head jack; the 3.5mm jack has nothing to do with what you described.

USB-C will be taking over those duties in the near future without and drop-offs in sound quality or efficiency. Matter of fact it will be more efficient as more companies ditch the 3.5mm
Something about a fresh start: I have mine everyday.
