The LS7 has been far and away the least reliable of the LS family. With the weight loss on the 6th gen, a Z/28'with about the same power would still be a significant upgrade. I could see a tweaked LT1 to close to 500hp and a further lightened Camaro body with even more aero, awww man I would be tempted. Call me crazy but I'd JUMP at something like that over a Vette. Maybe that's why there is a market(Z/28)? As much as I love the Vette and what it stands for (give me my moment please) I'm just not old enough to swim in those waters.

If Chevy were to go NA with the Z/28, the only rational decision would be to go with the new 6.2L DOHC V8 that is in development.

I don't think they can get an uprated LT1 to be considered because of emissions requirements. There was no power bump for the 4th year of the C7 generation so I doubt an hot NA version is ever coming. Usually they would have given it a 15-20hp bump just for marketing reasons by now.

What? Is this confirmed? I guess it makes sense for the mid engine Corvette.

Fixed to reflect what I've seen. Again take it with a grain of salt, but going with a smaller displacement should make it more competitive in racing classes in which the displacement is capped below the street car's 6.2L displacement.

I think there will probably be a power bump for the refresh that will be shared with the front mid vette.

The 4.2 is the Cadillac engine.

You really think GM is developing two different DOHC V8s?

Johan de Nysschen wants to have engines unique to the Cadillac line.

How important is it for Cadillac to have V-8 power going forward?
We will have a new engine family that is very highly modular and can be structured for four, six or eight cylinders, not only with performance in mind but it must perform better and be more efficient than the old engines.

I would guess the V-8 version would be exclusive to Cadillac.

I would want to work very hard to keep the architecture unique for Cadillac.

It wasn't that long ago (few months maybe) that there were still a handful of new Z/28s in dealer inventory.

It was a kick ass car that not many wanted. They made 2,000 units give or take over 2 years and it had a hard time selling.
Back in Summer of 2016 there were a couple hundred I believe still listed as new across the country.

The market spoke. I want a new Z/28 but I don't think GM green lights one. Not with the ZL1 1LE being released
      Boiler Up!

Make it three yards mother****er and we'll have an automobile race
