Because I'm having urges. I'm trying to control them, but I have this desire to do something stupid. As I told Sold Over Sticker, nothing beats a plum-colored (purple?) Bentley for under $4k. NOTHING!

Look at that Bird's Eye Maple!

      Can't be THAT complicated, right?

Let's just get this out of the way:

      LS swap.

That being said, I wouldn't trust a charitable organization to correctly diagnosis a 67 Bentley.

Buy it! What could possibly go wrong?

I can't imagine pre-emissions carb setups could be all that bad.

Might be worth it for the lulz, though I'm sure the car will need a lot more than fuel system work to be truly (safely) driveable.

its exactly as complicated as the one in a '67 Silver Shadow.
which is to say - not that complicated.

i think theres a shadow thread on here... somewhere?...

i bet that thing needs another 10-15k before you could do much more with it than idle in your driveway....

all that said, T1s are rare. much more rare than the shadows that theyre essentially clones of. if they took 3500 or so for it theres more than that in good parts from what i can see in the pics. which, honestly, is probably what ends up happening - i bet it ends up in tony handlers yard (which is localish to you also i think) before long

You could always just sit in the back seat and sip brandy if you can't get it running.

it could be less, but it would require an in person inspection. all relatively easy things you could do without even getting your hands dirty.
but it sure looks like its sat for a while. which is bad bad news.

if youre serious let me know, and i can send over a check list.

or you could buy it, ship it up here with a trunk full of cash, and ill send it back to you finished this summer

Honestly, for under $15k all in? That could be a pretty cool classic driver.

I'm assuming everything related to the hydraulic suspension/steering/brake system will need inspection/replacement, much less the fuel system.

just noticed it also has the rotating front vent windows!

between those, the bentley grill, the bumpers, and some misc interior and mechanical pieces (assuming they all work) youve got well over $4k in parts.

      Vad look here -

      66 right hand drive.

They have some cleaner examples, but what's the fun in that?

If you haven't visited these guys yet, you'll either thank me or curse me.

They have a couple Bentleys and Rollers from this era, and they're... difficult to resist. I promised myself I'd sell something before I bought another thing, the variety here tests that resolve.

Fuel system may be one of the lesser things to worry about on a late '60s Bentley

certainly the brakes are #1 on the issues list for that car - especially after sitting.

however, id also be concerned about the even more expensive and really rare, 4spd transmission in that car.
you cant really rebuild and adjust that thing at home like you can to 75% of the brake/suspension system. and its a lot more of a pain to remove and service in any case.

between the limited number of pics of the purple car, and that thing (especially given the price), id roll the dice on the purple one.
it looks like the interior may be in better shape, and the paint certainly is.

What do I love about TCL?

First, this crazy Bentley turns up.

Then, everyone chimes in with opinions including a guy who has extensive ownership and resto experience. Amazing!

      Seller update:

      Yes it is still available.
As far as brakes and transmission there is no way for us to determine that. The cars starts, it does not run or drive. The brakes did work when we unloaded it off the transport vehicle.
Convincing TCLer Slonie to let me store it at his NorCal abode failed. I'm now trying to convince TCLer Jerry_HEAVEN to let me park it in his NorCal driveway but, once he discovered a 1967 Bentley was involved, his only responses consist of "New phone. Who dis?"...

The fuel system for the engine isn't too bad. The one for the gas fired tea kettle in the back is a bitch.

This Aussie guy is restoring a 76 Rolls Royce. I know it's not a Bentley, but I wonder if you will run into similar experiences with the complicated British things that make you grind your teeth. No wonder they have horrible teeth.
