Hey now! I had to stay undercover and didn't drop a single "cyka blyat" while talking to Dima. Did you count how many times he called me "DUDE!!!!" and said that "guys from Bay Area" are coming to look at it tomorrow.

I am going to see the Bentley after lunch on Monday. Around 1-2PM. Worst case scenario I will head over there Tuesday around the same time.
If anyone would like to join me please PM me and we can kick the tires together.

All things considered I still think it is a really bad idea to get the Bentley but you guys are egging Vad on like my son eggs me on to throw a full bottle of lighter fluid into the grill so he can see what happens.

Considering that M is straight and not salvaged and it actually runs and drives well I'd definitely pick it over the Bentley if it will pass a PPI on the engine/trans department. At least he has a bomb proof S52 and an overall reliable convertible sled to take out on the weekends.

Sometimes I am similar to Vad in some of my purchase decisions and I have been hit over the head enough times and now I pick my battles a bit better.

My M started on first crank after sitting untouched under a cover for almost 6 months without a battery tender. Cleaning it up tomorrow and possibly taking it to next weekends Nor Cal GTG. Look, the Bent M is still kicking:

      It's the *best* bad idea.

Which is why we must all ensure it is supported 100%.

I'm still somewhat unconvinced this is a bad idea, but Vlad is really trying his best to make me understand that this is now an even worse idea.

He says from the inside out. Per texted pics, there's some coming through on the A-pillar and the lower fender area seems a bit... holy.

It's on Montgomery Ward tires! And they're holding air! That's a selling point, right?

I had to explain to Vlad what Montgomery Wards was. He's looking around for stamps to see how old they were... Montgomery Ward is all I needed to see.

Seeing as this car hadn't seen the light of day in three or four decades, it probably wasn't too hard to find them in the 70's. I still cant' get that interior smell out of my nose and we left that place almost two hours ago.

I imagine it to smell like a combination of old leather, must, and Grey Poupon.

My plan was to always carry Grey Poupon in the glove compartment on the off chance I encountered some joker who thought he was funny. Joke's on him!

      Even picked out the plates:

      GREY PPN

      or

      GRY PUPN

      This is sad .

Just think of it like this: By not buying this classic example of the pinnacle of British automotive design, you'll be able to afford the real stuff instead of the store brand dijon mustard.

      Damn.

Bad smell? Meh. Could easily have been taken care of by Ozium and a couple to-go Reuben sandwiches left in it for an hour or two.

It truly was a waste of time... type-awful. The best part was taking pictures of Vlad in the right hand drive driver's seat. The leather was nice still. The doors closed with a very nice mechanical thud. Less mold than the M Roadster on Friday!

      Pretty sweet badges!

      Very impressive workmanship

And... that's all I took. That was a nasty looking thing to deal with. In which I know most would tel Vad to jump on such an amazing deal. But let's be honest: we all know where it will be parked to rot.

This car was awful. It was just a waste of time. Even going by gut feel it felt like diarrhea. It doesn't even look like West Coast Car. This car had East Coast Rot. The under body of my AW11 with 200K miles is in far better condition.

It also sat for a very long time OUTSIDE with deflated tires. Paint looks to be very thick but it is all cracked as if someone went around with a butane torch and just blasted it. The side skirts and front fenders have rot and what looked like touch up by a painters brush.

I know Vad. I met him a few times. This is definitely not for him. This is just a pipe dream and it stops now. This car needs a splitting hair engineer named Aiken that has a post bac in thermodynamics and a juicy trust fund.

BTW, this place is a charity auction. And good cars get picked off way before general public gets to them.

I'll try to upload all the pics tonight.

      TIRES:

JUST BUY THIS JAG with missing interior! It's sitting right next to it and it looks like someone started a restoration on it and either died homeless or schizophrenic:
