Any of you gli owners had water pump issues? My car dumped 2 full coolant reservoirs today and my local stealership wants to charge 225 to diagnose and then an additional 1100 to fix said faulty water pump. I know it's a known issue with mk6 gtis and even has an extended warranty. Talked to VWoA and even though it's the same engine and common across the 2.0 tsi platform they were of no help. Looking to diy it.

purchase the part off ecs tuning or a similar german shop and have an independent mechanic do the job, this will save you so much money

I'm at 46k I'm my '13 GLI. Last weekend walked out to my garage and saw this.

Was convinced it was the water pump as all leaks from the front appeared to come from under the intake manifold near injector 3. However there was a ton of fluid in the back of the engine, that had me second guessing it was the pump.

Had it towed to the dealer, they confirmed it was the water pump. Covered under factory warranty. 3.5 hours and I was on my way.

I'd talk to your dealer again, good luck.

Did they check the gaskets from the upper timing belt? It's usually an oil leaks from there and trails it way to the water pump. The seal from the water pump expands, and leakage everywhere. Your gonna have another waterpump failure in about 4 months. Have then check it out

Common in 2012-2013. Mind did that too at about 60K miles. I had an independent mechanic do it since I was out of warranty too. WAY less than $1100. I had them order the parts too.

I ended up buying the newest revision and doing it myself. Spent like 300 bucks and it was a little time consuming but not too difficult.

I had this happen on my 2011 Jetta at about 34,000 years back and the dealer covered it
