looking through the threads is looks like almost 100% are selling their TDI's back. Is anyone thinking about keeping theirs? Since they don't have a fix yet I'm doubting that they will come up with one. I love my car and one of the reasons that I bought it was to be able to put high miles on the TDI. I'm sitting at about 75K and it would be kind of a waste to just through it away. I doubt there would be much of a resale value after the buy back runs out but I could just drive it until the tires fall off.

One concern would be, if there would be any spare parts if I run into issues.

Welcoming any thought good or bad.

Well, I'm keeping mine at least until june 2018.

If there is no fix by then, I'll still have the option to sell it back to them.

I'm not worried about parts. VAG is a big group and those engines are everywhere in europe so I don't see why parts would be scarce...

Plus I would net 1600 CAD if I give it back. Not a great deal to buy something else...

Nope. It's going back as soon as possible. Just wished they moved faster up here in Canada.

Keeping my '14 JSW, TDI 6 MT until I wear it out. Last car was a '96 Passat TDI wagon, 5 MT. It took me to the moon (~250k miles), before I sold it about a year ago to another enthusiast, who is restoring it. I'm on diesel #8, 7 were from VW group (OK, there was an '83 Audi 5000 TS sedan, not sure if Audi was part of VW group at the time), plus the odd '81 Isuzu I-Mark diesel normally aspirated sedan. Diesels are us.

Own a 2010 TDI Sportwagon. Would never sell it - if I didn't have to. But the fact is these cars will always have an asterisk on them, we'll never get the value VW is required to give us on them now, and I suspect somewhere down the road you'll no longer be able to emissions test it. And I agree, 19 months after the fraud was announced and no repair yet? Time to move on. But since I love the car, I'm replacing with an AllTrack. (PS. I grew up in Barrington)

Don't think Malone is doing 1.5 anymore (or at least wasn't). Stage 1 or 2 only now if I'm not mistaken.

2012 JSW TDI with 46k miles... plan on keeping as long as I can. If no fix by May2018, I'll be turning it in.

I will be surprised if they fix any 2.0L TDI engines made before 2015 models, excepting maybe the 2012-2014 Passat TDI. Too much trouble. too expensive.

I'm planning on keeping my 2014 sportwagen. If a fix is ever determined - and it doesn't add a urea tank - I'll take the fix and the money, then remove the dpf altogether

Keeping mine as long as I can... Because it's a 2.0T with a K04. Glad I was able to find one (4 years ago).

mine is gas and I love it.

Even if it was diesel I am sure I would want to keep it too as long as I can. I have no issues with it and it a great car.

I will reluctantly turn mine in 2017,because the price is too good to pass up. I'm hoping to find a replacement TDI from one of the Euro car co's. Maybe MB .

I calculated all the timing and mileage options that will net me the most money for a buy back.
That said, I am still hoping and am registered for the fix.

I have a 2010, and as a Gen 1 TDI, I don't think they will do enough to keep them on the roads.
I think I read that one of the provisions of the EPA/CARB settlement, there are fines to VW for every vehicle that stays on the road over a certain number(and maybe percentage).

With that, there really isn't much incentive for VW to even try to devise a fix.

I called the hotline a couple of weeks ago to find out that May 1, 2018 is the last date that a fix is to be announced.
Then something about you then have 30 days to get it fixed or an appointment.
Not sure of the 30 day details, but I'm sure we will learn more as that time frame approaches.

I plan to wait for the fix and if there isn't one, register for a buyback before Sept 2018, but not turn in my car until Nov or December2018.
I get more money for my car the longer I keep it, so long as I keep putting on as few miles as possible.

I have a buddy who is a parts tech at my local dealer. I talked to him a couple of days ago.
He said that a fix has been approved for the newer models and the dealer can now prep the cars still in their inventory for sale to the public.
Something of a software upgrade and maybe an oil change. Beyond that, he wasn't sure of the details.
