The anniversary is Tuesday. B-25s gathered at Urbana, Ohio this weekend, and are flying down today and tomorrow for a ceremony at the USAF museum in Dayton Tuesday. Rides were sold at Urbana, and watching the 25s (and a P-51) come and go was fun. There were a few other displays on the ground, and of course the Champaign Aviation Museum was open, as was the hangar with the Grimes Flying Laboratory. A good time was had by all. My one-year-old daughter enjoyed it, which pleased me...

Static A-26 firebomber at the museum:

Grimes Twin Beech, with more than a hundred lights. Used to be an actual testbed, now restored (appeared at Oshkosh a few years ago.)

I thought about calling off work and going down. It was a beautiful day, and this probably won't happen again. Hope it was glorious.

See it. Whatever it takes. It's worth a couple of days. I go once a year, and still spend a day.

It's FANTASTIC. You've really got to make the time... It's unfortunate that there's not a whole hell of a lot going on in the region, but if you're ever travelling across the country on I-70 you must go.

I love Udvar-Hazy and the Naval Aviation museum for their lighting - but the USAF museum's overall collection is just epic.

Spent my childhood summers clammering all over the sun-baked T-28's outside of the PNAS museum. I'd absolutely love to see the last remaining SBD that fought at Midway, now that they've restored it.

But yeah, definitely need to make it to W-P and Udar one of these days.
