I know the unit was optional in Europe, and i have seen some of them on German e-bay.
Im aware they arent plug and play.
What else must be purchased to make it work?
Any other place to get the climatronic unit besides german e-bay?

      TIA

Rich Pugh here on vortex did it to his Mk2 VR6T. He's from Eastside Motorsports.

That comes with an early Vento dash also. Nice find. Too bad they'll only ship to Germany.

I've dealt with that seller before and if your polite.. he's more than willing to help you.. he kinda gets a kick out of knowing how much we love this stuff...

In order to save on the shipping I'd have to let the dash go though...

Rich didn't do it, he has the module but needs a few more parts to get it completed.

That one on ebay.de is a great buy considering you get the vento dash and vento dash euro switch included

it's basically an electronic HVAC system... instead of the three knobs we get. i'm assuming it's got climate control too or something... either way, it's a european only thing, what else is new

It's digitally controlled, you set the temp and it will maintain it for you without you having to turn the knobs.

      Hi,
I got one in my car. Be aware that there are 2 versions of the climatronic. One with the econ button and one without. With the econ is the newer one. You should get that one. In the older climatronics the A/C compressor can't be turned off.

I just got back from my honeymoon in Europe. Saw a Climatronic unit in a mk3 16v GTI in a parking lot. Tried to take a pic, but too much glare through the windshield.

On a side note...I didn't see any modified cars through a month in France, Switzerland and Italy. I saw one slightly low Golf with an exhaust in Florence (Firenze), but that was it. Vortex makes it seem like Europe is littered with modified cars with all it's Euro pic posts. I guess if they do, they don't drive them on the street like here in the USA.
